Google Analytics:
When I created my blog site a couple of months ago, I had no idea that people would actually want to read what I had to write. But with the help of Google Adwords, and the statistics from Google Analytics, I analyzed that my site had 57 people visit, with 17 of them returning to visit again. Their average visit was about two and a half minutes. 33% of the visitors to my site come through search traffic and most of them visit from the searched keywords: “JMU”, “Theresa B. Clarke”, and “service experiences.” Overall, after analyzing my site, I’ve figured that my SEO strategy was relatively successful, bringing 14 visitors organic searches on Google.
MKTG 470 Reflection:
During this class, I’ve done a lot of things that I wouldn’t have ever done otherwise. Creating and analyzing my website was a really eye opening experience. It’s taught me how to market myself better through the use of the Internet. It’s also taught me a lot about Google AdWords, and how to market websites with an allowance. Using WordPress is one of the most useful tools because after learning the basic steps, I can now post anything I want, including, blog posts, pictures, and links. But one of the most important things I’ve learned from this class is the importance of SEO and PPC.
Future:
Compared to the beginning of the semester, my thoughts on Internet marketing have changed. I never had much interest until I realized the potential of marketing I can do for myself. I plan to continue my website even after the class is over, because I want to keep myself marketable and keep myself practicing my marketing skills so that one day I can put them to some serious use.
